Dubai Medical College for Girls is the first private college awarding degree of Medicine & Surgery in the United Arab Emirates, due to the foresight of Haj Saeed Lootah. This college was established in Dubai on an Islamic foundation to offer women in the UAE an opportunity to study medicine within the UAE.
The first students were admitted in 1985, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research UAE recognised the college in 1994, and gave its degrees the equivalence of the MBBS in 1996. In 1995, the British Medical Council recognised the degrees awarded by the college.
